The name of the site grew out of a 2004 NFL playoff game where the Colts Peyton Manning completed 22 of 26 passes for 377 yards, 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. His QB rating for the day was perfect - 158.3. Does that make any sense? No. Did anyone go to any depth to explain it? No.
What does this have to do with us or with you, the reader? Nothing really. Except that things like this occur every day and there's no one to call it out. More precisely, no one addresses it. Why? Because we live in a world dominated by media outlets that concern themselves with unbiased coverage. We, however, have no interest in unbiased coverage, except to point it out and then make fun of it.
But it goes beyond sports and pervades all of pop culture. We want a place for you to come and read about things that bug all of us. A place where Dick Vitale is lambasted for the fraud that he is. A place where an exposed breast is celebrated and not ridiculed. A place where someone is willing to stand up and admit that grown men do, in fact, watch The O.C. We believe that if you hold the eye and ear of the public, you have a responsibility to express your true opinion and that opinion should mock as much as possible.
158point3.com - dedicated to the pursuit of perfection, even when it doesn't make any sense.
